What To Do When You Feel Far From God
Distance from God often feels like failure. Scripture treats it more like an invitation to return.
Elevated Church Team
Feeling far from God can have many causes. Sometimes we have neglected prayer or withdrawn from community. Sometimes grief, exhaustion, or a painful experience leaves us struggling to sense His nearness. Whatever brought you here, you can tell God the truth without first finding the perfect explanation.
Shame says, stay away until you are better. Grace says, come close because you are loved.
The first move is not to perform your way back into God's approval. The first move is honesty. Tell the truth. Name the distance. Ask for help. Let someone pray with you.
Return small, but return honestly
- Pray one honest sentence today.
- Read one Psalm without rushing.
- Come to church before you feel ready.
- Tell one mature believer what has been happening.
"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." — James 4:8 (ESV, excerpt)
