How To Walk Into Church When You Are Nervous

A plain guide for the person who is almost ready to come back.

Elevated Church Team

For some people, church is familiar. For others, the parking lot feels like a mountain. Maybe you have been hurt. Maybe it has been years. Maybe you are not sure what you believe anymore.

You do not have to arrive confident. You can arrive honest. You can sit near the back. You can leave quickly if you need to. You can ask questions later. You can take one step without knowing the next ten.

  • Come a few minutes early so you are not rushed.
  • Let someone know it is your first time if you want help finding your way.
  • Do not pressure yourself to feel everything at once.
  • Pay attention to whether you sense peace, honesty, and room to breathe.

Our Plan Your Visit page can help you prepare before you arrive. You can also email the church team with a question or ask for help finding your way on your first Sunday.

Keep Going

Let the next step stay simple.
